Lake Singidani
Lake Singidani is one of three saline lakes just west of town. With green waters and plenty of rocky spots along the shore it’s quite beautiful, even when it’s completely dried up, which happens during some dry seasons. The lake attracts plenty of water birds, including pelicans and sometimes flamingos.
The lake Singidani is a must-see tourist hotspot which is located across the highway in the town. The centre of the town is compact, built encompassing a neighbourhood that reaches down to the lake shores, making it extremely suitable for walking tours.
Only 15 minutes’ from the town centre, Lake Singidani is listed as an Important Bird Area, attracting thousands of lesser flamingo when the water level is suitable. Lake Singidani, an alkaline lake, and a surreal apparition whose eerie green waters are offset by shimmering white salt-encrusted shores.
If you’re seeking adventure on this vast expanse of water, Sabore said Lake Singidani is the place to start. It provides a thrilling ride across the ever-changing colours and moods of the lake. We saw a few canoes packed at a lake shore. On this day, we found locals mostly women digging out salt ingredients from the lake for raw salt.
Looking across the sweeping plains towards the town is almost painfully beautiful. The powdery sweep of Lake Singidani in its own right is as magical as a fairy-tale
